Thank You For Supporting World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine!

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING WORLD VISION’S 30 HOUR FAMINE! Last Friday and into Saturday, 21 youth from Belle Plaine went without eating for 30 hours and raised $980.15 to help fight world hunger! The money raised will be sent to World Vision to help feed and care for 2 children for over a year. Our Famine youth donated their time by traveling to Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen and packed 5,184 meals which will feed 14 kids for an entire year. They also went door-to-door and collected over 500 food shelf items for the local CAP Agency in Shakopee. We are very proud of you! Thank you for your donations and prayers and for sampling the UNIMIX and Plumpy’nut that was served at coffee hour last Sunday. And one more big THANK YOU to Cheryl Johnson, Kim Neumann, Sara Bungarden, Lori Schmit, Kirk Franck, Noah Lee, Kelly Vechinski, Pastor Mark Lepper and all the youth that participated in this year’s event. Family Bowling Party: March 7th

Get the kids out of the house and bowl away the winter blues. Children’s Ministry has scheduled a family bowling party for all grades on March 7^th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Borough Bowl. Cost is $12.00 which includes shoe rental, two games of bowling and pizza and pop when you are finished. There is a sign up sheet in the gathering room so we can give them a approx. head count.

On Wednesday, February 24^th we will be having a parent and student meeting for all of our 5^th and 6^th graders. It will take place downstairs in between our Lenten Services at about 6:15. It is expected that all of our young people and at least one parent for each will be present at this meeting to take part in the discussion.

You’ve Got The Time to Listen to the Whole New Testament this Lent!

40 Days – 28 Minutes a Day

Today we are handing out free MP3 audio recordings of the New Testament, available to pick up in our Gathering Area.

St. John has been provided with these free MP3 dramatized recordings of the New Testament from an organization called “Faith Comes Through Hearing.” Working with such Bible translations organizations as Wycliffe, “Faith Comes Through Hearing” seeks to reach people around the world, in their own language, with these recordings of God’s Word. This is important because nearly 50% of the world’s population cannot read.

The cost to create an entire New Testament recording in a new language is $25,596 or, approximately, $948 per book. Therefore:

We will take a free-will offering today, Sunday – February 14.

Please pick up your copy and enjoy the dramatized version of the New Testament. This Lenten Season, in 40 days at approximately 28 minutes a day, you can listen your way through the whole New Testament.

Midweek Lenten Services begin Ash Wednesday

Midweek Lenten Services begin (5:15 and 7:15 p.m.) on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17. Soup and Sandwich Suppers are each Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Soups for Ash Wednesday are Chicken Wild Rice and Potato Cheese & Chives. Sandwiches are Egg Salad, Tuna Salad, and Hot Pot Sandwiches.

Confirmation Students are expected to attend each Wednesday service with an adult Lenten Mentor and to fill out and turn in a Lenten service note each week.
